The power was out at work yesterday. I can't even measure the extreme levels of unproductivity. I think I worked for all of an hour and a half. The rest of the time was spent figuring out how to find/use the bathroom in pitch-blackness. I used my cell phone as a rudimentary flashlight. Other guys simply...missed.

I would have loved every minute of this, were it not for the fact that the air-conditioning also went out, and that everybody in our department was sent home way early except us. We were told that if we left early, we'd have to work ten hours overtime NEXT week, mandatory. Then my supervisor went home, because "the heat was making her uncomfortable".

Only she didn't tell any of us. We worked on mail in the dark for two more hours before one of the few remaining people in the building happened to find us and said we could leave.

I love feeling loved.

I also had to make a bunch of quesadillas for the Cinco de Mayo office luncheon, which turned out amazing - but no one really knew how good they were, because everyone ate them cold, since there was no means to warm them up.

Next time, all my office spirit will come from the frozen flaquito aisle in the grocery store.

Yay team!
