"I don't know much about Jesus, but my mom's one of these..."
"Martyr?"
Yeah. That's my favorite quote from Friday evening. See, we had some happenin' folks over for dinner/drinks/games and other such wackiness. Julia and I made a huge dinner (which was particularly fun for me, due to the newly blossoming cooking-nerd in me). We had bacon-wrapped beef filets, big fat portabello mushrooms, marinated & smoked veggie ka-bobs, fresh yellow corns, overly toasted rye bread with butter and roasted garlic cloves...and more beer and wine than one could shake a stick at, and believe you me, I've shaken some big sticks in my time (John, if you make a joke about that, the gloves are coming OFF!).
As it turns out, though, the cool part was NOT the food, but the company - we had a group of new and old friends together, and it really clicked. If any of you guys are reading this, thank you all! We've had gatherings in the past (with different folks, mind you) where everyone was far too shy/arrogant/socially-deformed/soaked-in-their-own-drama to connect with the other people there, and frankly, I was a bit nervous about that this time. Alas! That was not to be! Goldarnitall, it worked! Shweet!
So, Jen, Julia, Ryan & Hilary - you all kick a whole buncha ass, and consider this a standing invite for the future!
