This just in!

It is now 2:00 in the afternoon, and I am writing this post to inform you that, since 8:00 this morning, I have done the following:

1) opened a notebook
2) flipped through about 20 pages of the notebook
3) spoken with my supervisor about one of the items within the notebook
4) flipped through a few more pages of the notebook
5) went to the bathroom
6) reserved a tee time for Sunday
7) looked at a bunch of stuff online
8) eaten a Burger King cheeseburger
9) goofed off, via e-mail, with Ryan
10) went to the bathroom again (didn't have to, but why not?)
11) changed to a different notebook to look like I've done more
12) flipped through some pages of the new notebook
13) written most of this blog post

I think I've earned the 120 bucks they've paid me so far, don't you?

Some days I really appreciate that we are between projects right now.

Well...back to the grind.

  1. I hope that you are being appropriately compensated for all the finger strain from extensive notebook flipping...or are you just keeping your fingers limber for the next period of project-stress?

Either way: not a bad way to spend a Friday!

  2. I DID look some stuff up in the Chicago Manual of Style for a bit.

I didn't really NEED to, but people were looking, and I have a very diligent fake work ethic to maintain.

Then I drew some stick-figure cartoons that made me chuckle.

Now I look busy because I am typing this with a stern look on my face, like it's important.

Every once in a while, I'll slam a notebook down on my desk and incredulously yell "What the heck does THAT mean?!?"

This makes people not want to disrupt me. It's great!

  4. Dang it, Thomas - my blog is not the free marketplace it appears to be. I can't allow just anyone to peddle their wares here - especially you. None of my readers are interested in your "Deep-Sea Snake-Breeding Made Easy!" kits, okay?!?

Oh, wait. I just looked at that link. Okay...I'll allow it, but only because it's a hyper-intelligent and witty blog that everyone should read.

    I forgive you, Thomas.

    I forgive you.
