Rolf and Kristy are married!
Woohoo! They done got hitched in Utah on Friday, and they performed a ring exchange for us at the reception on Saturday (since we couldn't be there to see the temple ceremony). It was snowy and beautiful, and there were many tears and tiny glasses of non-alcoholic, greenish-tinted punch spilled by all.
Ain't they just sickenin'ly adorable?
Yeah...they are. They know it, too.
The process that led to this smiley-faced picture was harrowing, nerve-wracking, sleep-depriving, and horrendous (see below), to say the least...
[Julia's ability to sleep on/in/through anything enabled her to rest a bit - this is 3 in the morning @ Denver Int'l Airport. My insomnia put me on guard duty, so I took this picture, which may get me in trouble when Julia sees this post.]
...but it was all so incredibly worth it to see them two kids all betroth-y and cute like that.
Please note that it was pretty much bad for everyone - not just me and Julia. The airlines lost the Straubies' luggage, including ALL of the rented tuxedos, Sandy's dress, and the clothes Rolf was planning to wear for the honeymoon. Oh crrrrraapppppp.
The all-powerful forces of Suck came together on Friday night for karaoke and belching contests, and we all had front-row seats. Not fun.
But...things were mostly resolved by the end, and no one but us insiders could tell that anything had gone amiss. How the heck did that happen? Witchcraft?
So...
Kristy: You're an angel and a beautiful bride, and I guarantee you that, though we always expected Rolf to find someone special, we never expected he'd find someone so wonderful and so spectacular as you. Congratulations, and welcome to the family! We in-laws gotta stick together. We need T-shirts.
Rolf:
Denver International Airport: You are uncomfortable, far too big by my standards, and I never meant to get intimate. It was just one night, baby...and frankly, I don't think my lower back could take any more lovin' like that. And five degrees Fahrenheit is just sick, you pervert.
Sam go sleep now.
Sam, we are so incredibly happy that you guys were able to make it. That day wouldn't have been what it should have been, and was, without you guys. We love you so much.
ReplyDeleteKristy by herselfs: I'm very glad there was someone to ease me into in-law status. And I love you.
Right back atcha, guys. The whole thing was, as my grandfather might've said, "wunnerful."
ReplyDeleteKristy: Love you, too.
Rolf: You're a'ight...I guess.
