As far as I'm concerned, Gary Larson's The Far Side one-panel cartoons are the best humor comics ever produced. When Larson retired in January of 1995, a void was created that hasn't really ever been filled.

However, I just found a webcomic called Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal that's getting pretty darn close. Here are two recent favorites:
